Chief Minister Patel announced the opening of 21 Yog Studios in the state and emphasized the state government’s efforts to promote yoga. The International Yoga Day events were held in iconic places throughout Gujarat, along with participation from various institutions and public spaces.

The Yoga Day celebration in Surat on June 21st, 2023, achieved a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people participating in a yoga session at a single location. Approximately 1.25 crore (12.5 million) people participated in the event at 72,000 venues across the state. Surat District Administration and the Department of Sports, Youth, and Cultural Activities organized the event.
The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Bhupendra Patel, mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has played a crucial role in popularizing yoga worldwide. The event highlighted the positive impact of yoga and pranayama during the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the celebration, the state government announced plans to open 21 “Yog Studios” to promote yoga and wellness. The International Yoga Day events were held at various iconic locations in the state, and programs were conducted in different districts with the participation of ministers, MLAs, MPs, and officials. Surat, Gujarat, set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people for a yoga session, with over one lakh participants. The event was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and announced by Minister of State for Home, respected Shree Mr. Harsh Sanghavi. A total of 1.25 crore people participated in Yoga Day celebrations across 72,000 venues in the state. The event had separate blocks for school students and involved 20,000 students from 42 private schools. The Y Junction BRTS route was transformed for the occasion, and Guinness Book representatives were present to authenticate the record-breaking attempt. A team of 25,000 volunteers assisted in the counting process. The Y Junction BRTS route in Surat was transformed for the event, and strict counting measures were implemented with the help of Guinness representatives and dedicated volunteers. The celebrations extended to various districts in Gujarat, and 75 iconic places were selected for the festivities.
